Doris Ann Field (Ashley), 82, of Whitefish, MT died Thursday, January 11, 2018 in a car accident. Born on September 12, 1935 in Janesville, Wisconsin to parents Charles and Berenice Ashley. Doris graduated from Rockford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1957 and found operating room nursing to be her passion. December 21, 1957 brought about her marriage to Richard Field of Janesville, Wisconsin Together they raised two children, Lesia and Rick. Doris was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, and mother. In 1979 Doris and Richard moved to Whitefish, Montana where she worked in the local hospital as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1999.
Her devotion and caring nature extended beyond the surgical nursing into her passion for quilting, golf, and spending time with her family and friends. Doris loved the beauty and grandeur of Glacier National Park. She is survived by her husband, Richard Field, her sister and brother-in-law, Bette and Larry Brown; her children Lesia Hatlestad (Dan) and Rick Field (Kimberly), and grandson Erik Hatlestad. She is preceded in death by sister Susan, niece Jody, and nephew Charles.
All are invited to attend Doris’ Celebration of Life at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Whitefish, MT 201 Wisconsin Ave, Whitefish, MT 59937, on January 20th at 11am. All of her family, friends and colleagues are invited to attend a reception at the church following the celebration and an open house after the reception at the family home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Whitefish. Austin Funeral Home in Whitefish is caring for the family.
