Evelyn Marie Pacheco, 89
Evelyn Marie Pacheco, 89, passed away on Dec. 11, 2023 in Whitefish, Montana. She was born Evelyn Marie Desy on April 13, 1934 in Lewistown, Montana to Archie Desy and Ann (Hodik) Desy.
As a child, her father worked for the Montana Highway Department and she grew up with her sister Betty Ann Simonich amongst a large extended family in the Lewistown area. Evelyn Street in Lewistown is named after her grandmother (her namesake) and many other Lewistown streets are named after prominent family members.
During her senior year she moved to Butte, Montana to attend Butte Central Girl’s High School where she graduated in 1952. After graduation, while working for a brokerage company, she attended a dance where she met her husband John E. Pacheco. They were married in November of 1953 and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary before her passing.
In 1958 the recently married Pacheco’s moved to Whitefish with their first-born son. In total they had four children, numerous grand and great grandchildren.
She was active in the Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge, and other community organizations. Later in life, she was a fixture of downtown Whitefish working for the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce, Boards ‘N Brass gift shop, and later the Toggery.
A funeral service will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church in Whitefish on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024 at 12:15pm. Friends are encouraged to visit austinfh.com/tributes to leave notes of condolences for the family and stories of her life.
