Fredrick Wilbur Bagley (64) of Whitefish, Montana, passed away on February 22, 2017. Fred was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 4, 1953
Fred grew up in northern Minnesota, attending Aurora – Hoyte Lakes High School and Moorhead State University. Fred graduated from The University of Montana with a degree in Education and later received a Masters degree in Education.
He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in Amarillo Texas. Fred worked as a teacher in Trego, Montana and Columbia Falls Montana. Fred also worked as a Camp Ground Ranger in Glacier Park. He recently retired from a teaching position in the Hemet Unified School District in California and was currently working part time at Nelsons Ace Hardware in Whitefish.
As a veteran teacher, Fred’s mentoring skills were beyond measure. By recognizing the needs and pushing the strengths of his students he forever changed the lives of many young scholars.
Fred was a gentle giant. With his quirky grin, quick wit and dry sense of humor; Fred charmed all that knew him.
Fred was an avid down hill skier. He enjoyed road biking, rafting the rivers of Montana, spending time with his dog, building log furniture, woodworking and cold micro brews! Fred will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents Lucille and Fredrick Bagley. Fred is survived by his wife Bonnie June Bagley, his daughter Amy Stepec (Steve) and four grandchildren, Jack, Evelyn, Lucy and Henry. He is also survived by brothers, Patrick Bagley of Peyton, CO, Chuck Bagley of Fischers, IN; sisters, Mary Robinson (Paul) of Onalaska, WI, Cindy Close of Menomonie, WI, Pam Houdek (Scott) of Tiffin, IA, Jen Trotter (Regi) of St. Joseph. MO; several nieces and nephews along with several great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Fred’s life will take place in July.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dream Adaptive Recreation program in Whitefish Montana, Northwest Humane society Kalispell Montana.
