Troy Knutson

Troy Knutson

Managing Partner

I am committed to providing the best service and care in the entire Flathead Valley and even in Montana.  Being the 4th generation in my family to live in the Flathead Valley means so much to me.  My passion as a care giver is to exceed customers expectations and provide a level of service that most don't even know is possible.   I am truly dedicated to helping families and being active in helping our community.  I've been a Rotarian for many years even serving as President twice.  I'm active in Glacier Connect and also involved with the Chamber of Commerce and other organizations dedicated to improving our community.

My first job in the funeral service started in Montana nearly 30 years ago.  Since then I've worked in Washington, Oregon, and most recently I managed the largest funeral home and cemetery combination in Idaho for 19 years.

In 2016, my wife Theresa and I decided life is too short not to move to the Flathead Valley that we love so much.   Theresa is an amazing Registered Nurse and we knew there was opportunity for her to help improve the quality of care at KRMC.  Although it was the middle of winter we decided to pack up our 2 boys and chase our dream of living in Montana.   The opportunity to be the Managing Partner at Austin Funeral and Cremation Services in Whitefish and Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls has been a dream come true.  I love this community and I am so proud of our team.  We are truly dedicated 24/7 to provide the best service, care and value to the residents of the Flathead Valley.  We really do a better job serving families because of that dedication.

The individuals and families in this community are our hero's and we are truly grateful to serve and honor our hero's in a way that only we can.   Please don't hesitate to pick up the phone and call us anytime as we truly feel blessed to help.

Mary Houston

Mary Houston

Ambassador

My name is Mary T Huston.  I am a 7th generation Southern Californian.  My Father and Mother very proudly raised 8 children in a Christian environment.

I moved to Montana in 1985 to get away from life in the fast lane.

I graduated from the University of Montana (GO GRIZ) in 1988, with a B.A. in Interpersonal Communications.

I moved to Minneapolis to live in community and volunteer at the Harriet Tubman battered Women’s Shelter as a Children’s Advocate for a year.

From there I moved to the Flathead and worked up on Big Mountain for about 10 years.

I met my husband AJ Coulter in Missoula during our college years and we both found ourselves relocated to Whitefish in 1992.

We were married in the Fall of 1998 at Risen Christ.  We had our first son a year later, followed by our second and finally our daughter in 2005.

We are very busy parents truly enjoying the blessings of raising our children with faith and love, patience and discipline.

When my Father passed away in 2011, we immediately contacted the mortuary that had assisted our family for three generations.

An odd yet familiar feeling was impressed upon me at the funeral home, I felt like a door was opening.

After 17 years of the blessings of motherhood, being a professional volunteer and personal chauffeur to my children, I decided to get back into the paid work force.

I was hoping I would find a job in a field that would speak to my soul.  Since then I noticed that I have a particular calling, it is a compassion towards others during the difficult process of letting their family members move from this life to the next.

I feel privileged to be employed in this business because it is during this time of grieving that it is so important to have others to lean on.

In the words of John Dohnny,  “No Man is an Island Unto Himself”.

I thank God everyday for my blessings, my faith, my family, my friends and now this opportunity to be employed in a business that goes beyond this life and into the next.
